Our proposal came out looking great. I am curious to see the
feedback though. The three of us (in our writing family) are all interested in
African American history, hip-hop history, social action etc. so we did not
really stumble as some of the other groups did. We chose a dynamic topic, so it
has kept us moving.
I will be covering the historical context of hip-hop music
and will analyze three of Yasiin Bey’s songs with social justice lyrics. Andrew
and Alonso will be writing about the broader implications of Yasiin’s music,
and will also analyze songs. Yasiin’s songs are rich in meaning and Yasiin is
an artist that continues to be faithful to the original ideals of hip-hop.
Wish us luck!
Good luck! I am sure you guys will do great.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to be having fun with this project. Let me remind you that scholarly work is not supposed to be fun.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I wish you the best!
I approve and second Bernardo's comment. Sounds like the research is going quite well, and best of luck!
ReplyDeleteDear Ambar,
ReplyDeleteYour topic seems very interesting, Yasiin's music is fascinating (just googled him). The lyrics of music is very eye opening because most people hear the music as opposed to listening. I am curious about your exact results.
I wish you the best!
I am excited for you and your group! I am going to have to disagree about the comment about scholarly work not being fun. Growing and challenging one's ability is tuff and at times a struggle, but it is not to say that you cannot have fun during the process, especially if you have a passion for what you are working and researching about.
