From Tekky to Educator

Hello Fellow SPI ers,

Just wanted to briefly introduce who I am, where I am from, and my research interest.

My name is Marlon Mitchell and I am currently pursuing a M Ed in the Curriculum and Instruction Department which is in the College of Education. I am actually a native of Champaign Urbana so if you have any questions about the area please feel free to holla.

I first attended Tuskegee University out of high school, but my BS degree is from Dominican University in Computer Science. The school is located in the West Suburbs of Chicago. After working within the field of technology for so long, I decided to go back to school to further my education. However, I wanted to involve myself in the arena of the social sciences. I believe my education and work experience can be of great use in the research of STEM education. One research interest of mine is to identify the different dynamics and the impacts they have on underrepresented populations within the academies of STEM education.

I look forward to having a lot of fun this summer!

  1. It was great to meet you, Marlon! I think you've touched on an important topic regarding STEM recruitment.
