I believe that cross-disciplinary research is important to an extent within my field. Electrical and Computer Engineering already crosses into other fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, software engineering and mathematics, depending on which specialization within ECE one may choose. Cross-disciplinary research in my field is valued to an extent, less so with social sciences. While ECE scientists solve real-world issues, it is highly unlikely that you will find an article directly linking this discipline to a social science such as Humanities.
